WITH the weather not at its finest, Downes Crediton Golf Club Seniors played a three-player Texas Scramble on Monday, January 30.

Ian Pring, Alan Draper and new Seniors Captain, Bill Dick put this difficulty behind them and put together a fine nett 65 to take victory by two clear shots from a gaggle of four teams on nett 67.

John Bingham, Dan Druce and Mike Charnock (nett 67) had the best of the back nines to finish second with George Crabbe, Walter Lonsdale and Tom Pettifer (nett 67) in third.

After the wild, wet weather of Thursday and Friday the Men’s February Medal on Saturday, February 4 was greeted with beautiful fine weather and a course in excellent condition.

Across the field there was some excellent scoring and top of the pile with a tremendous nine under par nett 61 was Matt Redstone.

This also gave Redstone victory in Division Three beating Adam Westle (nett 66) and Matt Brooks (nett 66) into second and third place respectively by five clear shots.

Division One saw Quinn Payne-Cook shoot an impressive gross 74 nett 64 to take the win with Simon Baker second, posting a nett 65, and Jason Arnold (nett 67) in third place.

Division Two saw Nick Staddon score the second best score of the day, a nett 63, to take victory, with Jim Dunlop and Ashley Cross second and third respectively both scoring nett 65’s.
