More misery for Yeoford to Cheriton Bishop motorists

By Crediton Courier Newspaper in Local People

THERE is set to be more misery for motorists who travel between Yeoford and Cheriton Bishop.

Mid Devon District Councillor Derek Coren recently fought plans to close the section of road between Lewdon Cross and Four Cross Ways, from February 27 to March 24 so that work could be carried out on the road safety barriers both sides of the bridge over the A30 dual carriageway.

Following his intervention and pressure exerted by Cheriton Bishop Parish Council to the consultants Jacobs and the contractors South West Highways, they have now reduced the time for the closure to two weeks.

This is to take place between February 27 and March 3 and from March 6 to 10 the road will be closed at weekends and the last week on March 4 and 5 and 11 to 16.

A temporary speed limit of 30 mph, and temporary two way signals will be installed either side of the working area.

Unfortunately, BT has now announced works between Yeoford and Cheriton Bishop from February 13 to 24, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Mr Coren has expressed his “frustration that utility firms are not working together”.

Alternative routes will be signposted during some of the road closure periods.
