10-bell competition replaces spring peal attempt at Crediton Parish Church

By Crediton Courier Newspaper in Local People

TOMORROW, Saturday, April 22, the annual competition for The John Scott Trophy will be held at the Holy Cross Church in Crediton.

Five teams of 10 bellringers from Exeter Cathedral, Chagford, Crediton and two from the monthly "Wednesday Evening" band drawn from around the area will take part.

After a 10am welcome from Churchwarden John Musty, the draw for ringing order will take place.

Ringing commences shortly afterwards and continues until shortly after midday.

The judges will be Martin Sharland of Dunsford and Neil Holloway of South Brent.

Further ringing on the full ring of 12 will take place at 6pm for an hour.

This whole event replaces the church’s normal three-and-a-half hour spring peal attempt.
