Devon and Cornwall Police Community Volunteer Awards is looking for nominations for the Community Citizen of the Year – perhaps you know someone in your community who regularly gives up their time in a voluntary capacity and who has made a significant impact deserving of recognition?
Devon and Cornwall Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner, in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Community Watch Association (DaCCWA) and Crimestoppers, is delighted to be hosting the third Devon and Cornwall Police Community Awards on Tuesday, July 4.
The awards will recognise the significant contribution volunteers play within our communities as well as the fantastic work of all of the supportive staff and partner agencies that help to organise and look after the volunteers.
Shaun Sawyer – Chief Constable Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "It is a pleasure to champion and recognise volunteering in policing, which brings not only operational benefits but also the public and police closer together.
"Connecting and enhancing community capacity, resilience and confidence is integral to keeping the public safe.
"This is a celebration of how our volunteers’ and partners’ skills, energy and commitment benefits society and forms part of our wider police family".
Alison Hernandez – Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall, said: "I am committed to championing volunteering in policing to bring the public closer to the police, and increase community capacity and resilience.
"We need to maximise the use of volunteers’ skills, energy and commitment and integrate them into the extended police family. This is key to better connecting communities and policing.”
