TO help celebrate 200 years of Ernest Jackson, four heroic employees will take on a 200-mile cycle ride from Birmingham to Crediton next month to help raise money for Hospiscare.

The cycle ride will start at Bournville on Wednesday, August 2, and finish on company’s site in Crediton on Friday, August 4.

The four cyclists; Mark Rice, Andrew Stubbs, Mark Bowen and Tom Conroy will be greeted by a keen group of colleagues at Thorverton, who will join them for the last six miles back to Crediton and along the High Street.

The cycle ride is part of the 200 year birthday celebrations which have also included a Summer Party, with staff enjoying a barbecue and traditional fairground stall games in the town square.

Managing Director, David Walter said: “We’re really proud of EJ’s heritage and the great products such as Bassetts Vitamins, Potter’s and Victory V we continue to make in Crediton, so we couldn’t let 200 years go by without marking the occasion.

"It was lovely to see so many of the team come together for an appropriately traditional party where we were well fed and watered by the team at The Three Little Pigs.

"We showed what a competitive bunch we are on the side stalls and I’m certain some of that competitive spirit will spill over into the last few miles of the cycle ride back to Crediton”.

"We are asking the public to help us reach our £1,000 target in donations for our charity ride to help support Hospiscare by visiting: and by cheering on our intrepid cyclists for their final mile up the High Street on Friday, August 4, between 11am and 12pm.

"Here’s to the next 200 years!"
