A ONE-DAY Police operation in the Crediton area netted some startling results last week - and lead to 84 traffic offences being detected.

Local officers, Community Speed Watch members, Special Constables and Traffic officers worked in partnership with the Devon and Cornwall Police Camera Safety Team at various locations along the A377 in a speed awareness operation.

This included Cowley, Newton St Cyres, Crediton, Copplestone, Umberleigh and Bishops Tawton.

Among the 84 traffic offences detected was a vehicle seized because it had no insurance.

A police spokesperson said that among the higher end speeds recorded was 66mph in a 40mph zone and 45mph in a 30mph zone.
