A SERIES of six Summer Lunchtime Recitals return, for a fourth year, to Crediton Congregational Church (CCC), this month.
The free recitals (1.10pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) start on Tuesday, August 15, with a programme of short piano masterpieces performed by Tim Matthews.
Works by Bach, Chopin, Schumann and Scriabin are included.
On Wednesday, August 16, in an entirely different vein, is singer and folk song-writer Dave Wood.
His beautiful song “May the Kindness” has been taken up by a number of well-known performers (May he sing it here, too!)
The remaining four recitals, on successive Tuesdays and Wednesdays will feature: piano improvisations by Dartington College-trained Dhevdas Nair (August 22), Philip Bonser with Margaret Chave - clarinet and piano works (August 23), Roger Stephenson with the Clayhanger Quartet: Dvorak piano quintet, and Emma Graham, harpist, who makes a welcome return to CCC on August 30.
The recitals are a joint venture between The Music Makers’ and the Congregational Church.
They are very kindly supported by a grant from Crediton Town Council, and concert events at CCC during 2017 are also supported by Stapletons chartered accountants.
Doors are open at 12.30pm for complimentary refreshments. The music performances are planned to last around 40 minutes each.
Admission is free, but donations are invited towards the costs and the expenses of musicians. All are welcome!
