Plenty of fish to be caught
SALMONHUTCH Coarse Fishery at Crediton has had plenty of fish surfacing but not always in the right place!
Fishing Rosemary Pond during the school holidays, Adam Hodgkins, Crediton, banked several doubles including a 19lb 12oz common, a personal best.
From Tiverton came Luke Broom, with three carp to 56lb; heaviest was a mirror of 20lb 15oz.
The Island Pond provided Simon Snell of Copplestone with a 19lb linear and seven other carp, totalling 79lb, using a home-made boilie.
Paul Cripps of Silverton took a 16lb common with boilie.
Carl Walsh of Cullompton scaled a 24lb mirror with his own mix.
Tuesday, April 22
SOME of the largest fish moving this past week with the catch returns including heaviest fish this season to date out from the main lake.
The top lake has provided some good sport again with some good low and mid double figure carp - heaviest scaling 16lbs.
Heaviest common for the week and in fact for 2008 was banked by Minehead angler Tim Woodbridge.
Tim fished the top swim on the right hand bank into shallow water depths and tempted his specimen common which tipped the scales to 29lbs 6oz.
Crediton’s Chris Hill reported a good session with a total of five fish including a pair of 20’s - scaling 21lbs 8oz and 20lbs 2oz along with three double figure commons.
Crediton engineer Mike Izzard hooked another 20 this past week this time tipping the scales to 20lbs 15oz. Mike also banked three doubles up to 15lbs 2oz.
Copplestone’s Vic Cranfield fished the right hand bank and reported a 19lbs 15oz specimen and Crediton junior Adam Hodgkins was well pleased with his one fish which tipped the scales to 15lbs 2oz.
Tuesday, April 29
Heaviest fish out from the main lake this past week was banked by Chris Roberts. He certainly had something to smile about and not only because it was his birthday.
Chris chose to fish mid way on the far bank and tempted this attractive mirror carp which tipped the scales to 28lbs 2oz and gave him a new personal best catch.
Copplestone’s Phil Tucker also reported a 10 fish bag with eight commons up to 16lbs 4oz and a pair of green tench. Ian Dowie decided to travel light and do some surface tactics with bread as bait, tempting himself a new personal best catch, a 21lbs 4oz common.
Kim Garnsworthy gained a new personal best catch when he successfully banked a 20lbs 8oz common. Kim also tempted five other commons including a 16lbs 8oz and a 15lbs 12oz carp.
Rackenford’s Ed Biscoe fished the first swim on the right hand bank and finished his session with seven fish in total, his top four catches were 20lbs, 17lbs 8oz, 16lbls 4oz and 16lbs exactly and Copplestone’s Danny Knight hooked five commons up to 20lbs 2oz along with a pair of tench.
