11 schools take part in Gala
ELEVEN schools took part in the Crediton Area Primary Schools Swimming Gala 2008 competition, held at Crediton Swimming Pool.
An atmosphere of excitement continued throughout the event, with lots of cheering and supporting the competitors.
Races of 25 and 50 metres for girls and boys were followed by mixed relays and then it was time to add up the scores.
Every student received a certificate for representing their school and those who came first second or third in each event received another certificate marking their achievement.
The winning school was Sandford, who received the “Janet Postance” Trophy which was introduced last year in memory of the former Landscore Headteacher, who had initiated the competition.
The Trophy was presented by Hannah Searle from Queen Elizabeth’s Community College who, with Peter Brewer, had organised the event.
Officials were from Crediton and District Swimming Club and poolside support was provided QECC Year 11 Sports Leader Award students.
