THE Chairman of Crediton Town Council, Councillor Liz Brookes-Hocking, would like to thank everyone who went along to watch The Common Players perform “Alice In Wonderland” in Newcombes Meadow on Saturday, July 9.

In the scorching heat, people enjoyed the show, which was a free event paid for out of the Mayoral budget.

The Mayoral Reception, in previous years, has been in the form of a buffet and drinks reception, but Mrs Brookes-Hocking wanted the first post-Covid event to be a celebration for young families!

The play, which incorporated children from both Hayward’s and Landscore Primary School’s, was a fun take on the “Alice in Wonderland” story, full of singing, dancing and puppets!

Councillor Liz Brookes-Hocking said: “The event was a huge success, and it was lovely to see so many local children being involved in a community show. Thank you to the schools for taking part; it was a lot of fun and a mad time was had by all.” The play was followed by a small tea party for community organisations, to celebrate the wonderful work being done in Crediton.
