MACMILLAN Cancer Support will be holding “Cancer Cafe” listening events in January.

Working in collaboration with Mid Devon Primary Care Network and Involve Mid Devon, supportive and informal events are being held on Saturday, January 27 and Wednesday, January 31 at the Boniface Centre.

Both events will run from 11am to 1pm.

The events offer the opportunity for anyone affected by cancer to talk about support and information needs, what is working well and what you would like to see more of, and how things could be improved.

There is no need to book, just turn up. You can be assured of a warm welcome from Macmillan and the team.

A light lunch and drinks will be provided.

Di Charlton, Macmillan Engagement Lead, explains why these events are important for the community.

She explained: “We know that people in Mid Devon face a number of challenges when receiving a cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment, and we’re keen to work alongside our local partners to hear first-hand from patients and their caregivers about what might help.

"Listening to people with lived experience of cancer and collaborating with them to make sure no-one faces cancer alone is very much at the heart of Macmillan’s work.

“People affected by cancer often tell us that what they really value is the opportunity to talk to other patients and caregivers who have experienced the cancer journey.

"The benefits of that shared understanding and ability to provide mutual support are well evidenced and incredibly important, and we’re keen to support more opportunities for that to happen.”
